Instructions
- Prepare the Crust: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough just comes together. Form the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface and transfer it to a 9-inch pie plate. Trim and crimp the edges.
- Pour the apple filling into the pie crust. Dot the top with butter pieces and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.
