Instructions
  1. Prepare the Caramelized Onions: In a skillet, cook Yellow onion over medium-low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and caramelized. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Whisky Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine all Whisky Glaze ingredients. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Form the Burger Patties: In a bowl, combine all Burger Patties ingredients. Gently mix until just combined. Form into 4 equal patties.
  4. Cook the Bacon: Cook bacon until crispy. Set aside on paper towels to drain.
  5. Cook the Burgers: Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese.
  6. Assemble the Burgers: Spread a generous amount of Whisky Glaze on both halves of each bun. Place lettuce on the bottom bun, followed by the cheeseburger patty, bacon, caramelized onions, red onion, and top bun. Serve immediately.
