
Aunt Gertrude's Gruyere And Leek Bread Pudding
A comforting and flavorful bread pudding featuring sweet leeks and nutty Gruyere cheese. This version uses readily available ingredients and straightforward techniques.

Leeks-white and light green parts only, thinly sliced and washed thoroughly

A comforting and flavorful bread pudding featuring sweet leeks and nutty Gruyere cheese. This version uses readily available ingredients and straightforward techniques.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Melt Butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add Leeks and cook until softened, about 10-15 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together all Custard ingredients.
- Add Bread cubes to the Custard and toss to coat. Let sit for 15 minutes, allowing the bread to absorb the liquid.
- Gently fold in the cooked Leeks and half of the Gruyere Cheese.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining Gruyere Cheese over the top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and set. Let cool slightly before serving.
