A step up from the classic, this dip incorporates a homemade taco seasoning blend and a touch of Monterey Jack cheese for a richer flavor.
Instructions
  1. Combine all Taco Seasoning ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Brown the Beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir in 2 tablespoons of the Taco Seasoning blend and 1/4 cup water. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine the Cream Cheese and Sour Cream. Mix until smooth.
  5. Stir in 1 cup of the Cheddar Cheese and the Monterey Jack Cheese into the cream cheese mixture.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly into a 9-inch pie plate or serving dish.
  7. Layer the seasoned Beef over the cream cheese mixture.
  8. Top with the diced Tomato, Green Onion, Black Olives, Salsa, and remaining Cheddar Cheese.
  9. Sprinkle with minced Jalapeno.
  10. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve with tortilla chips.
