Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. In a large pot, combine all Beans ingredients.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together all Sauce ingredients.
  4. In a skillet, cook Flavorings Ham Hock until lightly browned. Remove ham hock and set aside.
  5. Sauté Flavorings Onion in the rendered fat from the ham hock until softened, about 5 minutes.
  6. Add the Sauce and sautéed onion to the pot with the beans. Stir well to combine.
  7. Pour the bean mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  8. Nestle the cooked ham hock into the beans.
  9. Cover and bake for 2.5 hours, or until the beans are thickened and tender. Remove ham hock before serving.
