Copycat Chili's Awesome Blossom
A refined version of the classic appetizer, featuring a buttermilk-based batter for extra tenderness and a more complex dipping sauce.

A refined version of the classic appetizer, featuring a buttermilk-based batter for extra tenderness and a more complex dipping sauce.
Instructions
- Peel the onion, leaving the root intact. Carefully separate the layers, creating a 'blossom' shape.
- In a large bowl, whisk together all Batter ingredients until just combined. Let the batter rest for 15 minutes.
- Heat about 2 inches of oil (vegetable or canola) in a large, heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Dip the onion blossom into the Batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
- Carefully lower the battered onion into the hot oil and fry for 4-6 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the onion blossom from the oil and place it on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain.
- While the onion is draining, prepare the Dipping Sauce by combining all Dipping Sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
- Serve the Awesome Blossom immediately with the Dipping Sauce.
