Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour four 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the Cake ingredients until smooth. Divide batter evenly among the prepared pans.
  3. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  4. In a medium saucepan, combine the Apple Filling ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until apples are tender. Let cool slightly.
  5. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread with about 1/4 of the apple filling. Repeat with remaining layers, ending with a cake layer on top.
  6. Dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.
