An enhanced patty melt featuring a blend of ground beef and short rib, Gruyère cheese, and a caramelized onion jam on marbled rye.
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, gently combine all Patty ingredients. Form into a patty about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. To make the Onion Jam, heat Olive Oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add Yellow Onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and caramelized, about 20-25 minutes. Stir in Balsamic Vinegar and Brown Sugar and cook for another 5 minutes, until thickened. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, cook the Patty to your desired doneness, about 3-5 minutes per side.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place 2 slices of Gruyère Cheese on top of the Patty to melt.
  5. Butter both sides of each slice of Marbled Rye Bread with softened Butter.
  6. Place one slice of Marbled Rye Bread, butter-side down, in the skillet. Top with the cheesy Patty and the Onion Jam. Cover with the second slice of Marbled Rye Bread, butter-side up.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted. Serve immediately.
