About 30 minutes before serving, heat Olive Oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add Onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add Garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
Add the Onion and Garlic mixture to the Beans. Season with Smoked Paprika, Cayenne Pepper, Salt, and Pepper.
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
In a large bowl, whisk together Cornmeal, Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, and Salt.
Add the minced Jalapeño to the dry ingredients.
In a separate bowl, whisk together Buttermilk, Melted Butter, and Egg.
