Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the Ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute more.
- Combine all Sauce ingredients in the skillet with the beef mixture. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, milk, melted butter, cheddar cheese, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the beef mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Pour the cornmeal mixture evenly over the beef mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and set.
