Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. To make the candied orange, combine Orange-peel, Sugar, and Water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the peel is translucent and the syrup has thickened. Drain the orange peel and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together all Dry Ingredients.
  4. In a separate bowl, cream together Butter and Sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in Eggs one at a time, then stir in Molasses and Milk.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely. Top with Candied Orange before serving.
