Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm Milk, Yeast, and 1 tablespoon of Sugar. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the remaining Sugar, Salt, Egg, and melted Butter to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add the Flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it out to 1/2 inch thickness. Use a donut cutter to cut out donuts. Place donuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Fry the donuts in hot oil (350°F/175°C) for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  7. While the donuts are frying, prepare the Maple Glaze by whisking together the Powdered Sugar, Maple Syrup, Milk, and Vanilla Extract.
  8. Cook Bacon until crispy. Crumble the Bacon.
  9. Dip the warm donuts in the Maple Glaze and sprinkle with crumbled Bacon. Let cool slightly before serving.
