Aunt Petunia's Parsnip And Pear Gratin
A comforting and slightly sweet gratin featuring parsnips and pears baked in a creamy sauce.

A comforting and slightly sweet gratin featuring parsnips and pears baked in a creamy sauce.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Arrange half of the Parsnips in the prepared baking dish. Top with all of the Pears, then the remaining Parsnips.
- In a saucepan, melt the Butter from the Sauce group over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the Milk from the Sauce group until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly. Cook for 5 minutes, or until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in the Nutmeg, Salt, and Pepper from the Sauce group.
- Pour the sauce over the parsnips and pears. Sprinkle with the Cheddar cheese from the Cheese group.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
