A comforting classic, this recipe features thinly sliced potatoes baked in a creamy saffron-infused sauce. It's a family favorite, perfect for a cozy meal.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a medium saucepan, melt all Butter from the Sauce group over medium heat. Whisk in all All-Purpose Flour from the Sauce group and cook for 1-2 minutes, creating a roux.
- Gradually whisk in all Milk from the Sauce group until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
- Stir in all Saffron Threads from the Sauce group, Salt, and Pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in all Heavy Cream from the Sauce group.
- Layer half of the Potatoes in the prepared baking dish. Pour half of the sauce over the potatoes.
- Repeat layers with remaining Potatoes and sauce.
- Sprinkle all Parmesan Cheese from the Topping group evenly over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 60 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 30 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and golden brown.
