
The Vicar’s Sage And Onion Bread Pudding

A comforting and savory bread pudding featuring caramelized onions, fragrant sage, and a creamy custard base. Perfect as a side dish or a light vegetarian main course.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Melt 2 tbsp of Butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add Onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized, about 20-25 minutes. Stir in Sage during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
- In a large bowl, whisk together Milk, Eggs, Nutmeg, Salt, and Pepper.
- Arrange Bread cubes in the prepared baking dish. Spread the caramelized Onion and Sage mixture evenly over the bread.
- Pour the Custard mixture over the bread and onions, pressing down gently to ensure the bread is submerged. Sprinkle with Cheddar cheese.
- Dot the top with the remaining 2 tbsp of Butter.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and the custard is set. Let cool slightly before serving.
