An improved version of the classic, featuring a more complex sauce, a wider variety of vegetables, and a touch of heat. Still accessible for home cooks, but with a noticeable step up in flavor.
An improved version of the classic, featuring a more complex sauce, a wider variety of vegetables, and a touch of heat. Still accessible for home cooks, but with a noticeable step up in flavor.
In a bowl, combine all Chicken ingredients and mix well. Let marinate for 15 minutes.
In a separate bowl, whisk together all Sauce ingredients until smooth.
Heat a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken mixture and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 8-10 minutes).
Stir in the Sauce and cook for another 3-5 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly and coats the chicken.
Remove from heat and stir in the Water Chestnuts, Green Onions, Carrots, Bamboo Shoots, and Shiitake Mushrooms.
Carefully separate the lettuce leaves and wash/dry them.
Spoon the chicken mixture into the lettuce cups. Garnish with Toasted Sesame Seeds and Chopped Peanuts and serve immediately.
