1 1/2 cups Ham-diced
1/4 cup Butter
1/4 cup All-purpose flour
3 cups Milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Arrange thinly sliced Potatoes in the prepared baking dish, overlapping slightly.
  3. Sprinkle diced Ham evenly over the potatoes.
  4. In a saucepan, melt Butter over medium heat. Whisk in All-purpose flour and cook for 1 minute, creating a roux.
  5. Gradually whisk in Milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in Nutmeg, Salt, White pepper, Gruyere cheese, and Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. This is your Cheese Sauce.
  7. Pour Cheese Sauce evenly over the potatoes and ham.
  8. In a small bowl, combine Panko breadcrumbs and Melted butter. Sprinkle evenly over the casserole.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
