Boiled Custard
A simple, comforting boiled custard made with basic pantry ingredients. This is a traditional dessert, perfect for a cozy night in.

Whole Milk
1 cup
Granulated Sugar

Large Egg Yolks
1 tsp
Vanilla Extract

A simple, comforting boiled custard made with basic pantry ingredients. This is a traditional dessert, perfect for a cozy night in.
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine all Custard Base ingredients.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon.
- Continue stirring until the custard thickens enough to coat the back of the spoon (about 10-15 minutes). Do not boil!
- Remove from heat and strain the custard through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl to remove any cooked egg bits.
- Pour the custard into individual serving dishes or one large bowl.
- Cover with plastic wrap, pressing the plastic directly onto the surface of the custard to prevent a skin from forming.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until completely chilled.
