  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together all Teriyaki Sauce ingredients except the cornstarch slurry.
  2. Pour the sauce mixture into a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Sear the salmon fillets, skin-side down if using, for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and flaky.
  7. Pour about half of the teriyaki sauce over the salmon in the skillet. Gently coat the salmon with the sauce.
  8. Remove salmon from skillet and plate. Spoon remaining teriyaki sauce over the top.
  9. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.
