Dinner has a soundtrack. 10 songs paced to this 45-minute cook—from first chop to clean kitchen.

Start the first song before you prep. Follow the recipe for cooking times, then let the final tracks carry you through cleanup.

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together all Dry Ingredients.
  3. Cut in the Cold Unsalted Butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add the Buttermilk and stir until just combined. The dough will be shaggy.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
  6. Using your hands or a rolling pin, beat the dough vigorously for 5-7 minutes. This develops the gluten and creates layers.
  7. Cut out biscuits using a 2-inch biscuit cutter. Do not twist the cutter.
  8. Place biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, close together for softer sides, or spaced apart for crispier sides.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
