Dinner has a soundtrack. 18 songs paced to this 75-minute cook—from first chop to clean kitchen.

Start the first song before you prep. Follow the recipe for cooking times, then let the final tracks carry you through cleanup.

  1. Prepare the Crust: In a large bowl, whisk together the Flour and Salt. Cut in the cold Butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add Ice Water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough just comes together. Form the dough into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the diced Apples, Granulated Sugar, Flour, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Lemon Juice. Mix well and set aside.
  3. Assemble the Hand Pies: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about inch thickness. Cut out circles using a 4-inch cookie cutter. Place a spoonful of the Apple Filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over to form a half-moon shape and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
  4. Fry the Hand Pies: Heat the Vegetable Oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the hand pies in the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Remove the hand pies and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  5. Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the Powdered Sugar and Milk until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm hand pies. Serve immediately.
