Dinner has a soundtrack. 14 songs paced to this 60-minute cook—from first chop to clean kitchen.

Start the first song before you prep. Follow the recipe for cooking times, then let the final tracks carry you through cleanup.

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the drained and rinsed fava beans, vegetable broth, lemon juice, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are softened and the flavors have melded.
  6. Mash some of the fava beans with the back of a spoon to create a thicker consistency.
  7. To serve, ladle the Ful Medames into bowls. Drizzle with olive oil, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve with lemon wedges.
