A comforting and hearty Shepherd's Pie featuring a savory ground beef filling and a fluffy sweet potato topping. This is a family-friendly meal that's easy to make and sure to please.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the Ground Beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the Onion and Carrots to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the Flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the Beef Broth and Tomato Paste. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the Thyme, Salt, and Pepper. Add the Frozen Peas and cook for 2 minutes.
- Meanwhile, boil the Sweet Potatoes until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and mash with Milk, Butter, Salt, and Nutmeg.
- Pour the Beef Filling into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Spread the Sweet Potato Topping evenly over the filling.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
