Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together all Custard ingredients until well combined.
Place Bread in the baking dish. Pour the Custard mixture evenly over the bread, pressing down gently to ensure the bread is soaked.
In a small bowl, combine melted Butter and Sugar for the Topping. Sprinkle evenly over the Custard-soaked bread.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and set. Let cool slightly before serving.
