A hearty and comforting Southern classic, featuring tender ham hocks and creamy lima beans simmered in a flavorful broth.
Instructions
- Soak Dried Lima Beans in water overnight, or for at least 8 hours. Drain and rinse.
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, combine Ham Hocks, drained Lima Beans, Chicken Broth, chopped Onion, minced Garlic, Salt, Pepper, and Red Pepper Flakes.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 2-3 hours, or until the ham hocks are very tender and the lima beans are creamy.
- Remove the ham hocks from the pot. Shred the meat from the bones and return the meat to the pot. Discard the bones.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot.
