Dinner has a soundtrack. 12 songs paced to this 51-minute cook—from first chop to clean kitchen.

Start the first song before you prep. Follow the recipe for cooking times, then let the final tracks carry you through cleanup.

  1. Rinse the Barley thoroughly under cold water.
  2. Combine the Barley, Milk, and Water in a medium saucepan.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until the barley is tender and the liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in the Brown Sugar, Vanilla Extract, and Salt. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved.
  5. Serve warm. Add a pat of butter or a drizzle of honey if desired.
