A straightforward prime rib roast, perfect for a special occasion or Sunday dinner. This recipe focuses on simplicity and achieving a beautifully browned crust and tender interior.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Combine all Rub ingredients in a small bowl.
- Pat the Prime Rib Roast dry with paper towels. Generously rub the entire roast with the Rub mixture.
- Place the roast, bone-side down, in a roasting pan. Roast for 15 minutes.
- Reduce oven temperature to 325°F (163°C). Continue roasting for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part registers 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
- Let the roast rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.
- While the roast rests, prepare the Au Jus. In a saucepan, combine all Au Jus ingredients and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Carve the roast against the grain and serve with Au Jus.
