  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together all Dry Ingredients.
  3. In a separate saucepan, combine Molasses, Brown Sugar, and Vegetable Shortening. Heat over medium heat, stirring until shortening is melted and sugar is dissolved.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in Egg. Gradually add Boiling Water, stirring constantly to combine.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let cool completely before serving.
