Hush Puppies
A simple, traditional recipe for golden-brown, slightly sweet hush puppies. Perfect as a side with fried fish or barbecue.

Cornmeal-yellow
1/2 cup
All-purpose flour
1 tsp
Baking powder
1/2 tsp
Baking soda
1/2 tsp

A simple, traditional recipe for golden-brown, slightly sweet hush puppies. Perfect as a side with fried fish or barbecue.
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine all Dry Ingredients.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together all Wet Ingredients.
- Pour the Wet Ingredients into the Dry Ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Heat about 2 inches of Vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the hush puppies with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
- Serve immediately.
