A classic, hearty lasagna with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta cheese, and melted mozzarella.
Instructions
  1. Prepare the Meat Sauce: In a large pot, brown the Ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add the Onion and Garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the Crushed tomatoes, Tomato sauce, Tomato paste, Oregano, Basil, Salt, and Pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Prepare the Cheese Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the Ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, Egg, and Salt. Mix well.
  5. Cook the Lasagna Noodles according to package directions.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Assemble the Lasagna: Spread a thin layer of Meat Sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer with 3 Lasagna noodles, half of the Cheese Filling, and 1/3 of the Mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers twice more, ending with a layer of Meat Sauce and the remaining Mozzarella cheese.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
