1/4 lb Ground Beef
1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Black Pepper
1/2 Yellow Onion-thinly sliced
1 tbsp Butter

A simple and satisfying patty melt featuring a beef patty, caramelized onions, and melted cheese between slices of buttered rye bread.
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, gently combine all Patty ingredients. Form into a patty about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Melt 1 tbsp Butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add all Onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, cook the Patty to your desired doneness, about 3-5 minutes per side.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place 2 slices of American Cheese on top of the Patty to melt.
  5. Butter both sides of each slice of Rye Bread with softened Butter.
  6. Place one slice of Rye Bread, butter-side down, in the skillet. Top with the cheesy Patty and the caramelized Onions. Cover with the second slice of Rye Bread, butter-side up.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted. Serve immediately.
